Energy Bank, MOON and Volkswagen Group Sweden take V2G from pilot to commercial operation – MOON provides the bidirectional charger, Energy Bank the software that makes the electric vehicle a resource for the energy system.
Energy Bank, MOON and Volkswagen Group Sweden (VGS) introduce bidirectional charging (Vehicle-to-Grid, V2G) commercially in Sweden starting in autumn 2026, through the dealer network for Volkswagen, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Audi, Škoda and CUPRA.
The solution is based on three parts: the bidirectional charger from MOON, a sister company to VGS within Porsche Holding Salzburg; the vehicles from the Volkswagen group's brands; and the controlling software from Energy Bank.
The project has strategic support from Volkswagen AG, with whom Energy Bank has collaborated since 2021.
The step is taken from a pilot collaboration to a solution on the way to commercial operation; further details will be communicated after the summer.
Visby. In connection with Almedalen Week, Energy Bank together with Volkswagen Group Sweden (VGS) takes the step from pilot to commercial introduction of bidirectional charging (Vehicle-to-Grid, V2G) in Sweden. This autumn, the solution, which allows the electric vehicle to feed electricity back to homes and the power grid, will be offered through the dealer network for the Volkswagen group's brands Volkswagen, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Audi, Škoda and CUPRA.
The solution is being developed in close collaboration between three parties: the bidirectional charger from MOON, a sister company to VGS within Porsche Holding Salzburg, which provides charging infrastructure for e-mobility; the vehicles from the Volkswagen Group's brands, which already have a large number of electric cars prepared for bidirectional charging on the roads; and the software from Energy Bank, which controls when each car charges, stores, or sells back electricity and connects the car, battery, property, and electricity grid.

From pilot to commercial scale
The collaboration between Energy Bank and Volkswagen AG has officially been ongoing since April 2021, and the solution has been developed and implemented at Stenberg's Living Lab in Hudiksvall during that time. The commercial step now being taken means that the technology is moving from demonstration to a solution that can be widely offered through the Volkswagen Group's Swedish dealer network. A scalable and customer-adapted solution is under development, and further details regarding functionality, launch, and offering will be communicated after the summer.
